Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicle will you bring?

We will attend your booking in an Isuzu truck and Ifor Williams livestock trailer. This is around 3 car lengths. We will need access large enough for this.

Ideally, we like to be set up next to our truck and trailer. In the event of us not being able to park next to our set up, we must be parked within a 10m distance from our set up area.

What do we need to provide?

We will need access to a water source to fill up buckets and watering cans for the animals throughout the day.

At school visits it is vital that the children go straight from their session to the sink to wash their hands with soap. School staff members will also need to be out in the session with the children to supervise.

On a school day, the farmers and animals require a lunch break of 1 hour where there are no children around the animals. This usually fits in well when the children have their lunchbreak.

At events we do have hand gel we will provide and also hot (depending on whether you are able to provide electricity) or cold-water hand washers and soap, so constant access to a tap to refill the water containers will be needed throughout the day.

What do you bring with you (setup)?

Within our set up we will bring all things needed for our mobile farm visits, i.e hurdles, pens for the small animals, gazebos and parasols, feed and water buckets, any animal feed. Also, for events, hand washers and hand gels.

If we are setting up on hard standing we will bring straw and hay.

What animals can you bring to us?

A full farm visits include the following animals:

  • A pony
  • A calf (not at birthday parties and some smaller spaces)
  • Pygmy goats with their babies
  • Orphan lambs (time of year dependent) / large lambs

A selection of smaller animals:

  • Hen and chicks
  • Ducklings
  • Goslings
  • Guinea Pigs
  • Rabbits
  • Fancy Mice

This may vary depending on the booking and time of year.

How big should school groups be and for how long does each group need?

We ask for groups of 15-20 children per session for around 30 minutes each. However, we do ask schools to provide an itinerary for their Farms2Ewe visit so this can be adjusted if there are smaller groups or more time needed.

An idea of our typical days at school:

  • Half day (9:30-12) – 5 x 30 minute sessions
  • Half day (10-12) – 4 x 30 minute sessions
  • Full day (9:30-2.30) – 5 x 30 minute sessions, 1 hour lunch, 3 x 30 minute sessions
  • Full day (10-2) – 4 x 30 minute sessions, lunch, 2 x 30 minute sessions

This is a guide and can be adapted to suit your school. If you have any concerns regarding group sizes/amount of children, please do get in touch!

Can you do multi day visits?

For larger schools this may work as a better option ensuring each pupil attending gets a good amount of time.

Can people touch the animals?

Touching, stroking and tickling (goats!) of the animals is fully encouraged! We believe people learn and heal most through physical touch!

We do however ask that no one picks any of the animals up. The farmers are always happy to help and pick an animal up for people to touch!

How many farmers will attend?

At local schools, one farmer will attend and be with the animals and children. Sometimes at some schools that are further away, there may be 2 farmers.

At events there will be 2 farmers attending.

Each booking is different and we staff this accordingly.

What insurance do you have?

We have £10million public liability insurance and the certificate of this will be sent in our information pack upon booking.

Are you DBS checked?

All of our staff hold basic DBS checks.

How long will it take you to set up and pack up?

We aim to arrive 30 minutes before our start time (e.g. 9am arrival for a 9:30am start). It usually takes us around 30 minutes to pack the farm up after a visit. Occasionally if we are set up on hard standing, due to hay and straw being on the ground, it may take us slightly longer to clear this away.

I have an enquiry that isn’t mentioned on your website.

Please do get in touch if there is an enquiry we have not covered on our website. We have been to so many places doing so many different things, nothing will surprise us! So please do get in touch with any enquiries!

How much space do you need and what type of set up space?

Whilst working with mostly herbivores, a grass area is always our preference to set up the farm on. An area on a school field or nursery garden is perfect at school.

In the event that grass is not an option, we will bring hay and straw for concrete set ups.

Unfortunately, AstroTurf and spongey playground surfaces are not suitable.

However, please discuss if you are concerned about your set up area!

If your booking is in the summer months or weather is expected to be hot, natural shade is preferred!

Do you have an Animal Activity License?

Yes, we have an Animal Activity License, inspected and issued by our local council. A copy of this can be sent on request.

How do we book?

For any enquiries or bookings, please contact Hollie on 07780 654348 or via email [email protected]

What happens if it rains?

We carry gazebos and parasols with us but we always tell our clients to advise the visitors to the farm to dress accordingly (including footwear!)

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you ned to cancel your booking with us, we ask for a minimum of 2 weeks notice. Any time after 2 weeks will require full payment, this is due to the fact that as a small business, 2 weeks before we would have more of an opportunity to offer your date out but the closer it gets, the harder it becomes to fill.
